Supersport HD OB 1 (Nigeria)

Requirement;
Design and build systems on a split chassis based HD OB vehicle. Due to the road conditions a normal trailer arrangement wouldn’t work so we were asked to split the contents of a 22 HD OB across two 25Tonne Mercedes rigid vehicles.

The ‘MAIN’ Truck houses the Production, Audio, VT and EVS Operators, whilst the ‘RACK’ Truck is home to the Engineering, Vision and Satellite operations. The majority of the interfacing and mainframes are held in the ‘RACK’ truck also.

The main challenges came from the transport HD-SDI video signals and how to carry multiple AES streams with Dolby D/E encoding between trucks.

In the end a Fibre based solution was used for the SDi which was supplied from Evertz, and Audio used a pair of Snell Pyxis routers using MADI bussing with Dolby enabled crosspoints.

The defining feature of this project is the central control system supplied by Snell and customised to Supersport’s needs by C2S. This touch screen based solution allowed us to provide a simplified operator level of control whilst giving powerful control to Engineers from any part of the trucks using a variety of devices – Laptops, net books, iPad and iPhones can all be integrated as required.

The ‘RACK’ also carries a Advent Newswift 1.8m Ku DSNG Antenna in 1+1 configuration

The pair of trucks is supplemented by a third chassis used as a twinset generator, platform and cable tender.
